8 Step 4017 Sequencer with 555 Squarewave output
This is the first DIY project I worked on with my dad back in 2016 when I was just starting out in electronics for music hardware. It is a rather simple “toy” but is a lot of fun to play with, especially when adding effects to it. Although, it still sounds pretty good on its own.
I was never really fulfilled with such a simple sequencer and sound, mainly because anyone starting out could do it, so I started working on other projects to learn and grow. I am currently working on a much more advanced sequencer which does not use a microcontroller, and that is certainly a challenge. Anyway, here are some images of the 8 Step 4017 Sequencer and a video of it in action, along with being controlled by the gate out of the Beatstep Pro.
